About The Program

Note: As of March 31, 2008 the NS-SE Program will be in suspension for a period of time.  An RFP to establish a new 'parent' for the program to run under will come out in March or April 2008 with an estimated start date of September 2008.

The NS-SE Program (EST-NVCE) has been successfully delivered on the North Shore for 10 years, having effectively assisted in the planning, set-up, launch and operating of more than 400 new businesses . businesses that range from home based services to commercial 'bricks and mortar' retail stores to industrial manufacturing. The program's success is directly related to its professional facilitators/instructors and Business Advisors alike, who, have owned or still own and operate their own businesses in the Greater Vancouver area and beyond.

The NS-SE Program provides 8 weeks (100+ hours) of 'hands-on' business planning and skills development workshops together with 40 weeks of Business Advisor support to implement a 1st year Business Plan including the initial set-up, launch and unfolding of marketing, sales, production, financial management and administrative operations strategies.

The NS-SE Program strongly believes that a good business idea coupled with a sound business development strategy, self-discipline, dedication and an openness to learn are key critical success factors in both the successful start-up and sustainability of that business. To that end, the NS-SE Program provides a unique opportunity for the 'budding entrepreneur' who has a viable business idea supported by a relevant background and experience, to enter into an environment of professional assistance to effectively and efficiently plan, launch, grow and sustain that business.

Financial support for the delivery of the NS-SE Program is provided in partnership with the Government of Canada. In addition, and in agreement with the Federal Government of Canada, eligible, qualified participants in the NS-SE Program are provided with weekly living financial support up to a maximum 48 weeks.

How Do I Get Involved?

To get involved, you will need to attend an Information Session. Information Sessions are held every Thursday @ 1:00 PM at the contact address noted above. All you need to do is telephone 604-903-4825 to register for any one of these sessions and then just 'show-up'. You will be provided with eligibility information and the application process while being introduced to at least one of our Business Advisors and the 'boardroom' environment used to assist you in planning your business. Come and see us. You will not be disappointed!
